On a hydrobike ride each guest pedals their own, side by side across calm Alamitos Bay, and the photos are the kind people actually post. It works for adult birthdays, girls night, bachelorette parties, team outings and family celebrations, and Alamitos Bay Landing is a short walk from the dock for dinner or a toast after. Hydrobiking is a year-round dry sport and beginner-friendly, so the whole group can come, not just the athletic friend.

Everyone rides together

Every hydrobike seats one rider, so the whole group pedals side by side. No experience needed: if you can ride a bike, you can ride a hydrobike.

Day rides for family birthdays, golden hour sunset rides, or LED-lit glow rides after sunset for a night out that glows.

Room for the good stuff

Two cup holders and a storage cubby on every hydrobike, and you can rent a Bluetooth speaker for the birthday playlist.

  2. 2Convenient dock check-inArrive 30 minutes before your departure. Our dock is in front of Ballast Point Brewery, 110 N Marina Dr, Long Beach. Parking is free at Alamitos Bay Landing.
  3. 3Ride togetherLife jackets on, and the whole group heads out across the bay side by side. Stay inside the bay: no ocean and no harbor.
  4. 4Celebrate afterBack at the dock, the restaurants and bars of Alamitos Bay Landing are right there. Plan your visit.

  • Adult birthdays and milestone birthdays that deserve more than a dinner reservation.
  • Girls night and bachelorette parties: a sunset or glow ride, then drinks at the Landing.
  • Team building activities in Long Beach and Los Angeles: everyone rides, no one sits out.
  • Family birthdays on day rides, with kids who can reach the pedals, usually from around age 10. On day rides, kids 4 to 9 can ride along with an adult when adult and child together weigh 250 lb or less.

Price

From $29 per person for day, sunset and glow rides (one hour, up to $40 for the busiest departures). $50 per person for the 2-Hour ride. The booking calendar shows the price for your departure before you pay.

Good to know before you book

  • Every hydrobike seats one rider. Anyone under 18 rides with an adult 18 or older.
  • 250 pounds per hydrobike. Only bring what fits in the storage cubby.
  • Alcohol is not allowed on the water. Toast at the Landing after your ride.
  • Life jackets are provided and required. Ours are Coast Guard certified.
  • No ride-along kids on sunset or glow rides.
  • Cancel or reschedule with at least 48 hours notice. Email hello@lbwaterbikes.com or call 562.546.2493.
  • We close now and then for wind, rain or fog. If you booked ahead, our crew contacts you and we sort out a new time.

Can we book a birthday or a group online?

Yes. Book your whole group online: up to 20 guests per departure, with back to back departures for larger groups. Every rider gets their own hydrobike, so pick one spot per person.

Can our group have a departure to ourselves?

Groups depart as they arrive, so your ride is already private to your group. If you want the whole departure to yourselves, call 562.546.2493 to ask.

Which ride is best for a birthday?

Sunset and glow rides are the favorites for adult birthdays and girls night: golden hour or LED-lit hydrobikes after sunset. Day rides are great for family birthdays, and the 2-Hour ride is the one for exploring the Naples Island canals.

Can kids come to a birthday ride?

Kids about 10 and up who can reach the pedals ride their own hydrobike. On day rides and daytime 2-Hour rides, kids 4 to 9 can ride along on an adult's hydrobike when adult and child together weigh 250 lb or less (call to ask about 2-Hour rides). Kids 3 and under cannot ride.

Can we bring drinks, a cake or decorations?

Every hydrobike has two cup holders and a storage cubby, so bring what fits in the cubby. Alcohol is not allowed on the water. Save the toast for Alamitos Bay Landing after your ride, a short walk from the dock.

Can I give a ride as a birthday gift?

Yes. Gift cards work for every ride, Christmas Lights included, and arrive by email in minutes.
