Day rides, Alamitos Bay
A day on the water in Long Beach.
Pedal your own hydrobike across calm Alamitos Bay, with the sandy beach alongside you. One hour, any time it is light.
One of the best things to do on the water in Long Beach
If you are looking for things to do in Long Beach that get you outside, a day ride is the simple answer. You sit up high on your own hydrobike and pedal it like a bike, out across Alamitos Bay with the beach along Alamitos Peninsula beside you. Bring a friend, your family or a date, stop on the sand when you feel like it, then walk to lunch at Alamitos Bay Landing.
Your own hydrobike
Every hydrobike seats one rider, so everyone pedals at their own pace. No experience needed: if you can ride a bike, you can ride a hydrobike.
The beach runs alongside you
The sandy beach along Alamitos Peninsula runs beside most of the route. Pull up on the sand ten minutes in, or keep going and find a quieter spot.
Calm, protected water
Alamitos Bay is flat and protected, so it stays calm even when the ocean is not. Two cup holders and a storage cubby ride with you.
How it works
- 1Pick a timeBook a day departure online. Reservations are strongly encouraged, because we sell out often and walking up is a gamble.
- 2Check in at the dockArrive 30 minutes before your departure. Our dock is in front of Ballast Point Brewery, 110 N Marina Dr, Long Beach. Parking is free at Alamitos Bay Landing and along Marina Drive.
- 3Pedal the bayLife jackets on, and you are off. It takes about a minute to get used to the steering, then it is just pedaling. Stay inside the bay: no ocean and no harbor.
- 4Keep the day goingBack at the dock, the waterfront restaurants and bars of Alamitos Bay Landing are a short walk away.
Where you will ride
You start from our dock on Alamitos Bay and pedal out along the sandy beach of Alamitos Peninsula, which runs beside most of the route on the way out and again on the way back.
It is a mild workout, more like an easy bike ride than a hard one, so you can talk the whole way. Want more time on the water? The 2-Hour ride gives you twice as long.

- Friends and visitors looking for something to do in Long Beach that is not another restaurant.
- Day dates, with lunch or a drink at Alamitos Bay Landing after.
- Birthdays and groups: up to 20 guests per departure, and back to back departures for larger groups. Call 562.546.2493 to set it up.

Where do we meet, and is parking free?
