It is the date night people talk about, a girls night or birthday nobody else has thought of, and a night out that starts on the water and ends in the Long Beach nightlife at Alamitos Bay Landing. Like glow in the dark kayaking, but you sit up high and pedal.

Each hydrobike is lit with its own LED lights, so you are part of the show on the water. The lights only show after dark, which is why glow rides leave after sunset.

- 2Convenient dock check-inArrive 30 minutes before your departure. Our dock is in front of Ballast Point Brewery, 110 N Marina Dr, Long Beach. Parking is free at Alamitos Bay Landing and along Marina Drive.
- 3Light up the bayLife jackets on, lights on, and you pedal out across calm Alamitos Bay. Stay inside the bay: no ocean and no harbor.
- 4Keep the night goingBack at the dock, Alamitos Bay Landing’s waterfront restaurants and bars are right there.
Where you will ride
You start from our dock on Alamitos Bay and pedal out along the sandy beach of Alamitos Peninsula, which runs beside most of the route. At night the bay is lit by the street lamps, the moon and the glow rides themselves.
The bay is flat and protected, so it stays calm even when the ocean is not. Two cup holders and a storage cubby ride with you.

From $29 per person for one hour, up to $40 for the busiest departures. The booking calendar shows the price for your departure before you pay.
Good to know before you book
- Every rider pedals their own hydrobike and needs to reach the pedals. That is usually around age 10, and leg length matters more than age (about 28 inches, see the FAQ).
- No ride-along child passengers on night rides.
- Every hydrobike seats one rider. Anyone under 18 rides with an adult 18 or older.
- 250 pounds per hydrobike. Only bring what fits in the storage cubby.
- Life jackets are provided and required. Ours are Coast Guard certified.
- Cancel or reschedule with at least 48 hours notice. Email hello@lbwaterbikes.com or call 562.546.2493.
- We close now and then for wind, rain or fog. If you booked ahead, our crew contacts you and we sort out a new time.
Glow ride questions
What is a glow ride?
A one hour hydrobike ride after dark on Alamitos Bay. Every hydrobike is lit with LED lights, and every rider pedals their own.
When do glow rides leave?
After sunset. The LED lights do not show in daylight, so every glow ride leaves after the sun goes down, and the times move with the season. On the booking calendar, pick a departure after sunset. Check in 30 minutes before your departure.
Can I see the lights on a sunset ride?
Sometimes a little, at dusk on the way back. For the full glow, book a glow ride.
Is a glow ride good for date night?
It is one of our favorite date nights in Long Beach. You each pedal your own hydrobike side by side, and the waterfront restaurants and bars of Alamitos Bay Landing are a short walk from the dock for after.
Can kids come on a glow ride?
Yes, if they can reach the pedals and ride their own hydrobike, which is usually around age 10. There are no ride-along child passengers on night rides, and anyone under 18 rides with an adult 18 or older.

At our dock in front of Ballast Point Brewery on Alamitos Bay, 110 N Marina Dr, Long Beach, CA 90803. Parking is free at Alamitos Bay Landing and along Marina Drive. Avoid the red-curbed boater parking.
